We all know that marketing is all around us. From your very first memories to the moment before you click and reading this article, you have been swamped by marketing.

This article is about my introduction to digital marketing and my insight into the world of marketing, social media and economics.

I learned so many new things about startups, businesses, marketing and consumers behaviour for the last 4 years from books, blogs, videos and from my friends.

This article is all my perspective and insight about what I learned in a digital marketing agency (Dezinee).

I give thought to why marketing was a necessary component during the product development or providing services to clients. But the perception was changed when you have one’s opinion. Because marketers have the hardest finger on the heart-beat of your customer persona.

Marketing is about identifying and meeting human and social needs. Marketing is about experimentation. And Digital Marketing is not different from the word ‘Marketing’.

Digital marketing spans across a massive network of digital touchpoints that customers interact with many times a day. To properly make practical and effective use of these channels, you need to have an understanding and practice of each. Because digital is becoming the core of everything in marketing today.

Social media will become increasingly conversational in the B2B space, video content will be clarified for search engine optimization (SEO) purposes, and email marketing will become even more personalized. All these are components of digital marketing.

The Evolution of Marketing

Earlier marketing started with our ancestors in rural areas. Needs are the basic human requirements such as food, water, air, clothing, and shelter at that time.

But during the Industrial Revolution, purchasing goods began to be easier for a consumer than making things themselves. Mass production created many industries engaged in the same try to serve the needs of a growing consumer market.

The overall evolution of marketing has given rise to the concept of business development. Marketing has taken modern shape after going through various stages since the end of the 19th century.

Starting in the 1960s the markets in many industries became saturated with competition. The need to get and keep customers now required specialists in the area of direct marketing. This is a time when companies began dedicating entire areas of their business for the sole purpose of marketing a company’s products or services.

This was when marketing management developed the refinement necessary to be an essential part of business success. Marketing managers began to be involved in strategic planning. Their input was important for determining the cost, the methods used to communicate information about products and services to consumers, and more.

And in this modern (digital) era the purpose of marketing is to build a brand & capture a position in the mind of customers.

Internet Marketing

With the evolution of the web, websites started being an essential tool for commercialization. During the late 1990s, simple company websites that were text-based (static) began to flourish. They were initially utilized to provide information about a company’s products or services.

The History Of Marketing: From Trade to Tech

The same methods used for marketing are used for digital marketing. It just the technology changed from print to digital.

One thing I learned that the most important tool for marketing is Communication in the modern day of marketing.

“Leadership requires two things: a vision of the world that does not yet exist and the ability to communicate it.” ― Simon Sinek, Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action

Communication is a way to change the system or change the demand for your product. Be establishing cultural norms.

By effective communication, we understand our customer’s worldview and desires so we can connect with them. Digital marketing refers to message delivered through digital channels such as search engines, websites, social media, email, and mobile apps. Using these online media channels, digital marketing is the method by which companies communicate where, when, & how our consumers want to communicate with our goods, services, and brands.

Modern life is overloaded with demands on your attention. Now many folks thinks that marketing is about getting noticed.

One of the primary functions of the human brain is perceptual filtering, determining what to pay attention to and what to ignore. The fastest way to be ignored by anyone is to start talking about something they don’t care about.

In 2017’s statement celebrating 10 years of the iPhone, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that “iPhone is an essential part of our customer’s lives and today more than ever it is redefining the way we communicate, entertain, work and live … the iPhone set the standard for mobile computing in its first decade, and we are just getting started. The best is yet to come.”

When the phone launched, The New York Times described it as “not … for everyone” and a “gamble.” That “gamble” has propelled Apple to stratospheric heights, with the largest market cap of any company in the world. People check out the new iPhone on display at MacWorld on January 10, 2007, in San Francisco, California. The device which is controlled by a touch screen is set to launch in June 2007. It will play music, surf the Internet, and deliver voice mail and e-mail. After rising 6 percent on Tuesday, Apple shares gained 4.79 percent, to close at $97 on the Nasdaq Stock Market on that Wednesday.

Indian Economy

The economy of a country goes up as the average age of the country goes up. And the average age of India is 27.

By 2100, India was forecasted to still have the largest working-age population in the world, followed by Nigeria, China, and the USA. (economic times)

Indian consumer durables market is broadly segregated into urban and rural markets and is attracting marketers from across the world. The sector comprises a huge middle class, a relatively large affluent class, and a small economically disadvantaged class. Global corporations view India as one of the key markets from where future growth is likely to emerge. The growth in India’s consumer market would be primarily driven by a favourable population composition and increasing disposable income.

The law of demand is a fundamental principle which states that “conditional on all else being equal, as the price of a good increase (↑), quantity demanded will decrease (↓); conversely, as the price of a good decrease (↓), quantity demanded will increase (↑)”.

The only factor which influences the quantity demanded is the price. The law of demand is the inverse relationship between demand and price. It also “works with the law of supply to explain how market economies allocate resources and determine the prices of goods and services that we observe in everyday transactions” The law of demand describes an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded of a good.

In microeconomics, Microeconomics is a branch of economics that studies the behavior of individuals and firms in making decisions regarding the allocation of scarce resources and the interactions among these individuals and firms.

Integrated Media Planning

Creating a marketing campaign is knowing about your audience so you can reach them on the right platforms and deliver the most effective messaging. Integrated Digital Marketing planning is the process of going through various media platforms you want to use in a marketing campaign. Use of several forms of media, from traditional to digital platforms.

You have to understand the goals of your product or niche. You have to become an expert or willing to expert in a particular product, and understand the market exactly.

Who is the target audience?” and “What medium will reach this audience?”

Basically, an integrated media plan is a blueprint for a marketing campaign.

An Integrated marketing plan answers questions like “Who is the target audience?” and “What medium will reach this audience?”

Content is the centre of Integrated digital marketing.

To apply this plan as a product producer you have create content for the people who are wiling to buy your product and target through these different platforms.

“Your customer doesn’t care about a product or an idea unless it solves a real-world problem”. — Steve Jobs

Before planning Integrated Digital marketing you as a firm have to figure out your smart goals and objectives. And decide which persona you’re going to target for a certain campaign. Your buyer persona will include demographic information such as income, education, gender, desires, include pain points, and goals.

After understanding your target market means knowing what’s important to your audience, what their life is like, and what problems they have.

Conclusion- Marketing is the generous act of helping others become who they seek to become. It’s a chance to serve, and change the culture.

As generations evolve and technology develops, the advancement in the field of marketing and advertisements has been immense. No longer are businesses bound by the limitations of traditional marketing techniques. The old has been heavily replaced by the new. One of the newest and most effective strategies has been online marketing, which is the topic that this whole article was centred on. Online marketing utilizes the internet and its capital of resources for promotion. For businesses and entrepreneurs who want to stay on top of the freshest and most attractive deals and sales going on in the world, internet marketing is a necessity, not a choice. The traditional market has transferred to the online world (tv to mobile) where companies can now reach customers worldwide, using different forms of digital marketing.

This is what I learned in my last year about marketing. I hope this article was informative to you.
